About Limpopo Jewellery Business Incubator


Limpopo Jewellery Business Incubator (LJBI), previously known as Seda Limpopo Jewellery Incubator was established to contribute towards creating economic opportunities through developing and supporting emerging businesses from historically disadvantaged communities. Following its 12 years of existence, the LJBI as referred to as the centre seeks to reposition itself as a centre of excellence that is a recognisable and has a strong brand in Limpopo, across the country, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and internationally.

Our vision is to be the centre of excellence in SMME development and Learnership in jewellery designing and manufacturing.

Our Focus

LJBI focuses on generating sustainable small to medium enterprises drawn from different sector which is Clothing, Leather & Textile, Beauty & Cosmetic. With jewellery manufacturing remaining part of its key mandate, the centre continues to transfer practical jewellery skills, business mentorship and coaching to ensure the availability of properly skilled young South Africans both in manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

Our competitive advantage is that over and above establishing a reputation for supporting the integration of jewellery design and manufacturing into sustainable businesses for over a decade, we are a multi-sectoral business incubator in Limpopo province that provides infrastructure support in terms of co-working space, machinery, technology, and skills transfers.

Our Objectives

The incubator aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Accelerate the creation of small manufacturing enterprises.
  • Integrate business, manufacturing, and servicing through hands on training and development on working for numerous potential clients brought to the LJBI through expert (inter)national marketing.
  • Facilitate and foster self-employment opportunities among aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • Create a mutually profitable working relationship with relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish an industry skill needs and vacancy database’ to match supply and demand.


Our Achievements

  • 2021Plat Africa Awards 2021 second place prize.

    A learner took the runners up position in the 2021 Plats Africa awards for his piece ‘World of mask’
  • 2021Leihlo la Sechaba.

    The organisation was represented by the Centre manager and Business Development Officer on SABC 2’s Tv Show Leihlo la Sechaba.
  • 2021Thobela FM Women in Business Roundtable.

    The centre was invited to appear on Thobela FM’s Women In Business roundtable on Women’s Day
  • 2019Skeem Saam.

    Centre and SMMEs’ products were used as part of the wedding props at SABC1 soapie, Skeem Saam.
  • 2019Attended the Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair.

    The organisation displayed products at the fair.

    Official sponsor and manufacturer of the Miss Bachelorette South Africa 2019 crown.

    An SMME was awarded a grant of R50 000.00 by the NYDA.
  • 2018Las Vegas jewellery Expo.

    SMME exhibited at Las Vegas sponsored by the department of trade and industry.
  • 2012-2018Learnership Graduates.

    The centre trained a total of 144 learners who graduated with an MQA accredited certificates.
  • 2014-2018SMMEs Graduates.

    18 SMMEs have graduated from the programme.
  • 2017-2018Hunan International Business Vocational College.

    Three SMMEs were sent to China by the Department of Trade and industry for jewellery skills training offered by Hunan International Business Vocational College for a period of 3 months.
  • 2016Mining Qualifications Authorty.

    Mining Qualifications Authorty A learner was sent to Italy by the MQA to be trained as a Goldsmith for a period of two years.
  • 2016Thuthuka Competition.

    Four SMMEs and four learners won awards at the Thuthuka competition under the theme “Heroes”.
  • 2015Thuthuka Competition.

    Three (3) learners won awards at the Thuthuka competition under the theme “Shoellery”
  • 2014Thuthuka Competition.

    Three (3) learners won awards at the Thuthuka competition under the theme “African Beads"
  • 2014Exhibited in Zimbabwe.
