The SMME development incubation programme supports SMMEs and Co-operatives who are ambitious and passionate about entrepreneurship and want to grow their businesses.
The programme is offered for a period of 3 years to the following sectors: Jewellery Designing and Manufacturing, Clothing, Leather & Textile, Beauty & Cosmetic.
The SMME programme offers the following support: business compliance, business trainings, mentorship and coaching programme, facilitation of access to markets and finance, and technical training to jewellery entrepreneurs.

SMME Selection Criteria
For a business to participate in the SMME programme it must be viable with potential to grow, offer a product or service that can be commercialized within 3 years and is likely to achieve significant growth in terms of sales and number of employees. Over and above the business must also demonstrate the following:- Viability with growth potential – have a product or service that can be commercialized within 3 years and is likely to achieve significant growth in terms of sales and number of employees.
- Market potential – a business idea that demonstrate strong market potential for products or services.
- Innovation – the client must be able to demonstrate business or product creativity.
- Entrepreneurial characteristics – the client must be able to demonstrate characteristics of extraordinary leadership: vision, intelligence, and business resilience.
- Additionally, the business must have at least 50% female shareholding and must be generating revenue.
- Clients with registered businesses must provide operational track record (Management accounts/financial statements, Tax Compliance status and CIPC company registration documents.
- Clients without registered businesses are welcome to join the programme.
- Age – priority is placed on youth-owned businesses.
- Gender – priority is placed on female-owned businesses.
- Demographics – priority is placed on rural and township-based businesses within the province of Limpopo.
Facilities for Hire
LJBI offers SMMEs working space for our incubates at a very low rate. SMMEs can custom design and configure their working space with the approval of the centre’s management. Currently the incubator is in the rocesss of remodelling. The update will be communicated once the project is complete.Benefits for our Tenants
